Animal husbandry work placements
At the Scottish SPCA we are always delighted to accommodate work placements for students studying towards a career in animal welfare.
As the applications we receive far outnumber available places, priority will be given to college and university students studying or living in locations within reasonable travelling distance of our animal rescue and rehoming centres throughout Scotland.
Students must be studying towards a qualification related to animal care or veterinary medicine.
Work placements can be tailored in duration to suit the needs of your course. You should provide us, if possible, with details of the specific learning outcomes of the placement you are looking for.
Our animal husbandry work experience placements take place in animal rescue and rehoming centres.

Students of veterinary medicine

These placements would normally take place in our animal rescue and rehoming centres across Scotland and can be applied for in the same way as our animal husbandry work placements. Please click here to apply.
Other work placements
We will also consider requests for work placements in the following areas -
- Communications and Engagement
- Fundraising
- Marketing
- Human Resources
- Volunteering
- People Development
These placements would take place at our Scottish SPCA headquarters in Halbeath, Dunfermline. Please contact us at volunteers@scottishspca.org and we will contact you to discuss availability.
It is always helpful if you can specify preferred dates for your placements, and provide us with any specific learning outcomes you are required to accomplish for your course.
