We are hoping for a Christmas miracle for some of their long-term residents who have been in their care for almost 3,200 days combined.
Luke the ferret
Luke has been in the care of our Angus, Fife and Tayside Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre for 378 days. He has a very jolly personality and is always making staff at the centre laugh.
He loves to snooze the day away on his hammock but, as soon as he hears a food packet, he is awake and ready to feast.
Luke is quite comfortable with being handled and doesn't mind being picked up and cuddled. Like many ferrets he can give the occasional nip when over excited or unsure.
This big-hearted, lovable boy would love to sleigh ride into a home that either has prior experience with ferrets or has researched their needs and requirements.
Quintilis the snake
Quintilis slithered into the care of our Edinburgh and Lothians Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre a massive 877 days ago!
He can have a Grinch like temperament and is not overly keen on being handled, so he would be best suited to an experienced owner.
Quintilis will need to be provided with an adequately sized vivarium with the correct heating and lighting for his species. His new owner must be knowledgeable of snakes and their care.
Roxy the dog
Roxy hadn’t had the best start in life when she first arrived at our Lanarkshire Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre 585 days ago.
Since being in the centre, Roxy has gradually improved and is learning to love life again. She absolutely adores playtime with either with her favourite humans or on her own. Soft toys seem to be a big favourite.
Unfortunately, Roxy has previously shown a dislike to men. This is something potential new owners need to be aware of and they need to be committed to helping Roxy overcome these issues. She has gradually improved with meeting men in the centre.
Roxy has had some muzzle training which she did really well with and is now happy to wear her muzzle for short periods of time.
This beautiful girl would prefer to have her human companions at home with her most of the time as she can suffer from separation anxiety.
Her Christmas wish would be an adult-only home with no other animals and a well-fenced garden to spend time playing with her toys.
Rose the cat
Rose is a very angelic lady who is looking for a quieter home to settle into this Christmas after being at our Glasgow Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre for 283 days.
Rose is a very charming girl who has lots of love to give. She is a quiet and laidback cat who is looking for a settled, calm home where she can build trust with her new family.
Rose has required treatment for a couple of ongoing medical conditions. None of these issues currently require ongoing medication but they will place exclusions on Rose's insurance policies going forward.
Rose will require access to the outdoors after a settling in period.
Rosie the dog
Rosie is a sweet lurcher with endless amounts of energy. She loves zooming around at high speeds, picking up teddies as she goes.
She has been in the care of our Highland and Islands Animal Rescue and Rehomng Centre for 237 days.
Although Rosie is a very energetic dog, she does love a cuddle and affection. She is a very friendly girl but can be sensitive when meeting new people and being in new environments.
Rosie is lots of fun and enjoys her walks. She generally walks well on the lead but would benefit from further training in this area since she can often get the impulse for zoomies. She can also be quite distracted by other dogs, however she has improved greatly with this and she has been walking well with other dogs at the centre and is beginning to make more friends.
Rosie's dream home would be with someone active and willing to continue her training. Knowledge or experience of sight hounds would also be beneficial. She will also need to be the only pet in the home.
Winnie the dog
Crossbreed Winnie loves toys and would happily spend all day rolling around in her blankets with her favourite teddies. She has been at our Aberdeenshire Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre for 384 days and would love to play with her toys in a new home under the Christmas tree.
Winnie enjoys the company of other well-mannered dogs so she could possibly live with another gentle canine companion pending a successful introduction at the centre.
Her new home would need to have experience in training and socialising an adult dog using positive reinforcement so that they can continue with the brilliant progress she is already making. She will require a secure garden where she can run around and play as she likes.
Winnie is nervous of men, so will require some further training and the Scottish SPCA have a programme in place to make the transition into her new home as smooth as possible. She also had a previous medical issue which does not currently require treatment but this will need to be monitored by her new owner and will not be covered by insurance.
Jet the cat
Beautiful feline Jet is ready to find her forever home after being at our Edinburgh and Lothians Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre for 371 days.
Jet was very timid when she first arrived at the centre and she spent a lot of time hiding in her bed. Over time, Jet has started to slowly come out of her shell with little head bumps at meal times and now she is the first to run down the steps to greet the staff.
Jet is best suited to being an only cat as she is not overly fond of sharing her attention. She has previously lived indoors but, as she is young, she may gain the confidence to go outside in the future.
She would love a ‘meowy’ Christmas with an owner who has lots of time to help her settle in, play and offer lots of love.
All these animals want for Christmas is a new home and family.
