We are looking to give Smurf the lurcher and Roxy, a Staffordshire bull terrier cross, loving new homes after being in their care for a combined total of 1,442 days!
Loveable Smurf is eight years old and has been at our Lanarkshire Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre for over 980 days.
Scottish SPCA assistant manager, Rachael Maclean, said: “Smurf is a handsome big lad who is on the lookout for a loving forever home where he will be showered with loads of love and affection.
“Smurf has a heart of gold and a very sweet nature. He enjoys his daily walks, and loves them even more when he walks beside you so he can get head rubs at the same time.
“He can be very excitable and boisterous when he meets other dogs. He would benefit from some further socialisation when he is settled into a new home as he is not sure of how to properly behave around canine companions yet.
“We feel Smurf would be best suited to a home with older children and he would also benefit from direct access to his own spacious and secure garden.”
Roxy is a sweet girl who is four years old and has been at the Society’s Lanarkshire Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre for over 460 days.
Rachael says: “Roxy hasn't had the best start in life and when she first arrived with us she was very fearful. However, since being in our care, Roxy has gradually improved and is learning to love life again.
“She absolutely adores playtime with either her favourite humans or on her own and soft toys seem to be a big favourite with her.
“Unfortunately Roxy has previously shown a dislike to men. This is something potential new owners need to be aware of at home and when out and about, and they need to be committed to helping Roxy overcome these issues. She has gradually improved with meeting men in our centre.
“We are looking for a home that can continue Roxy's training and socialisation. She would have to be the only pet in the household as she hasn't been socialised with other animals. She would need careful introductions if she was to be introduced to new dogs as potential walking companions.
“Roxy has had some muzzle training which she did really well with and is happy to wear her muzzle for short periods of time.
“This beautiful girl would prefer to have her human companions at home with her all of the time as she can suffer from separation anxiety.
“She would also prefer to have a female-only household until she has built her trust in men. She would require no children and a well-fenced garden to spend time playing with her toys.
“Once Roxy has settled into her new life we feel she would offer great companionship and would build a strong bond with her family.”
