Black cats in our animal rescue and rehoming centres across Scotland are screaming out for their fur-ever families and they make boo-rilliant pets.
We currently have fifty-two purr-fect black cats in our care on the prowl for new homes.
And since January this year, we have taken in 298 black cats across Scotland.
Because of superstitious beliefs in some cultures, black cats are sometimes associated with bad luck and, sadly, are more likely to wait a long time to be adopted.
In fact, they’re considered good luck in many cultures and in Scotland, it’s lucky for a strange black cat to arrive at your doorstep.
Regional Operations Lead Kim Gilchrist said: “We’d love anyone thinking about welcoming a black cat into their home to consider rescuing one of ours.
“We have such a variation of temperaments and ages that we’re confident we have a black cat to suit most families.
“We’d also like to encourage anyone thinking about buying a kitten to consider adopting a young adult cat instead. They are just as playful and fun as a kitten but a little easier to take care of in so many ways.
“As anyone who has rescued an animal will tell you, these cats will be so grateful for a second chance at a loving home. We’d love to treat them to new families as soon as possible.”
Anyone interested in rehoming any of these cats can view and apply here.
