Dogs looking for paw-some homes this International dog day

Dogs of all shapes and sizes in our animal rescue and rehoming centres across Scotland are looking for their fur-ever homes.

We currently have 293 dogs in our care waiting paws-itively for new families.

And since January this year, we have taken in 1,172 dogs across Scotland, an 8.7% increase on the same period last year.

Celebrated annually on 26 August, the day is to raise awareness about the number of dogs that are currently in rescue centres and encourage the adoption of these animals.

This day was created in 2004 by Colleen Paige, a pet and family lifestyle expert and animal advocate who chose to celebrate the day on August 26 as it was the date that her family adopted their first dog ‘Sheltie’ from an animal shelter home.

Denali has been at our Lanarkshire animal rescue and rehoming centre for 174 days.

Denali is a Boxer cross who has been on foster with a 6-year-old and two dogs. She does regularly meet up with family dogs of all shapes, sizes and age.

One special thing about Denali is that she has three legs. She is a new tripod and has been coping exceptionally well. She manages stairs, coming of the couch and also the bed where she will spend all night snuggling into you.

This girl could potentially still live with another dog but preferably a calm male. She would equally be happy to live with just her human family.

She can happily be left at home for a few hours, travels amazing in the car, walks great on her lead and has a good recall too.

Denali loves her toys and is still very much a big puppy.

This girl would be a perfect pooch for your home even for a first time dog owner.

If you or someone you know can offer Denali or any of the dogs in the charity’s care a home then please apply here.
