We are appealing for information after a male cat was abandoned at the Dunbartonshire and West of Scotland Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre on 8 May.
We were alerted to the incident when a member of the public visiting the centre discovered the cat carrier and witnessed a woman walking away.
Scottish SPCA assistant centre manager, Rachel Mansfield, said, “The cat was abandoned in his carrier outside our centre gates. There was a note attached but no information on the cat was detailed.
“We were only alerted when someone visiting the centre saw the carrier and the woman walking away.
“The cat is neutered and appears to be in good health.
“We understand that people’s circumstances can change, but this is not the right way to give up an animal and the cat would have been caused a great amount of unnecessary distress.
“Unfortunately he is not microchipped.
“This cat is thankfully now safe and being cared for by the team here at the centre.
“We are urging anyone who recognises this cat, or has any information to please contact our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.”
