Ottawa has been sweet since she arrived at the centre, although being nocturnal she is usually cuddled up in her bed when we are going around. She is gentle taking treats from staff and is generally okay with handling.

The minimum size requirement for a hamster is 50 x 100 x 50cm, but giving her more space would make her more content and increase her quality of life. Hamsters love to borrow so owners would require a deep bottomed enclosure to allow a minimum of 10cm of substrate for borrowing and natural behaviours.
