During  the first 10 days of October our teams were faced with an unprecedented situation.

216 dogs and puppies came into our care, rescued from squalid conditions from locations across Scotland. They arrived in a very poor state, with many suffering from severely matted fur, painful dental disease, and inflamed, irritated ears. Some of the puppies rescued were just weeks old, and in desperate need of care.

These dogs were living in heartbreaking conditions - neglected, and in desperate need of medical attention.

We rescued all types of dogs, from small to giant breeds and everything in between.

The neglect these dogs have experienced is on an unfathomable scale.

The 216 dogs and puppies we rescued are now receiving the necessary care in several of the Scottish SPCA’s rescue centres across Scotland. We have been supported by local veterinary practices in handling the emergency response. Our teams are working hard to do everything we can for these animals, but we’re stretched to our limit.

They are safe now, but their journey to recovery is just beginning.

We urgently need your support.

The dogs and puppies require urgent veterinary care, vaccinations, food and shelter.

Our teams are working around the clock to get them back to full health and ready to go to their loving forever homes.

This is our biggest intake of puppies and dogs in our 185 year history and the costs are overwhelming.

Donate today and be part of the rescue.
