Pet Aid

Pet Aid is our initiative to support people and pets who are struggling.

Through Pet Aid, we provide essential food supplies for animals through a network of food banks across most of Scotland. Keeping pets and people together is an amazing way to protect animal welfare. Nobody should have to give up their pet because they are unable to afford the items they need.

Calls to our animal helpline to give up pets have more than trebled since 2022. Many people don’t want to give up their animal, but feel they have no choice. Through Pet Aid, we offer people who need a small hand some vital support.

If you need help or advice, you can call our animal helpline in confidence on 03000 999 999.

It’s not okay to abandon an animal, but it is okay to talk to us if you feel you are struggling.

Introducing Pet Aid Vet

Across communities in Glasgow, Ayrshire, Dumfries and Galloway we are trialling a new service – Pet Aid Vet – to support the communities that are most in need. Pet Aid Vet provides veterinary support through pop up advice hubs, drop in clinics and referrals from our dedicated team of Scottish SPCA Inspectors.

Pet Aid Vet will be improving the welfare of pets by visiting homes and providing treatment to alleviate medical conditions. These short term interventions will allow pets to stay where they belong, with their families. We will also provide advice and support to help pet owners’ access local services so that they can continue to seek the care their pet needs.

We hope, if this new service is successful, that it can be available in more communities across Scotland.
