We are appealing for information after three 10-week-old kittens were found left in a cage in woods at Drumshoreland Road, Pumpherston on the morning of 1 November.
We were alerted to the incident after a concerned member of the public found the kittens and took them to their home for safety.
Scottish SPCA inspector, Stuart Murray, said, “The kittens are approximately 10-weeks-old and were found by a passing member of the public inside a cage abandoned in local woods.
“The cage was large and appears undamaged and, luckily for the kittens, it looks as though it hadn’t been there long enough to be exposed to the elements.
“The kittens were understandably distressed but they had no signs of injuries.
“We understand that people’s circumstances can change, but this is not the right way to give up an animal if you can no longer care for them.
“They are now at one of our animal rescue and rehoming centres where they will receive the care they need.
“If anyone recognises these kittens or has any information, we would ask that they contact our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.”
