We will be holding an open day at our Glasgow Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic.

Taking place on Sunday 9 July from 12pm until 3pm, the open day will give members of the public the chance to meet the team at the centre, shop local businesses, play fun games and win raffle prizes including a stay for two at Novotel Glasgow.

The event is also dog-friendly, with visitors encouraged to bring their canine companions along to join in the fun.

Centre manager, Carrie McKechnie, said, “We’re so excited to welcome the public to our open day.

“The event is ideal for anyone who would like to know more about the work we do in the local community or meet the team here at the centre.

“By taking part in our raffle and fundraising activities on the day you’ll also be helping to fund the work of the centre so we can keep rescuing Glasgow’s animals like George.

“George, then named Lightning, was found abandoned and severely matted in November 2022. When he came into our vet clinic he was also found to have issues with his teeth, injuries to his tail and the most severe infestation of lice in his ears our vet had ever seen.

“After his recovery, he was rehomed to Lee and Bryan and their daughter, Amy. He was renamed George and settled in to his new home quickly.

“Despite his rough start in life, they say he is a friendly and gentle dog who makes them laugh every day – especially when he accidently rolls off the couch mid-snooze!

“The open day is a fantastic chance to celebrate success stories like George, have some fun and raise some much-needed funds for Glasgow’s animals. We hope to see as many animal-lovers there as possible!”

Anyone interested in attending the open day should head along to the Scottish SPCA Glasgow Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre, 125 Kinnell Place, Cardonald, G52 3RY on 9 July between 12pm and 3pm.
