We are appealing for information after an emaciated dog was found on Dumbarton Road at Whiteinch on 31 July.

The dog is now in the care of one of our animal rescue and rehoming centres while we investigate the incident.

Scottish SPCA inspector, Gillian Dick, said, “The dog is a tan, adult female Staffordshire bull terrier type dog. She is in extremely poor condition and emaciated.

“She was handed to a member of the public by a man after they confronted him about the state of the dog.

“He claimed the dog belonged to his friend.

“We are keen to speak to the person who was looking after the dog and the person who owns her. Unfortunately, she is not microchipped so we are unable to trace any owner details.

“If anyone recognises this dog, or has any information about her circumstances, they should call our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.”
