We are appealing for information after a dog was found in poor condition on a farm in Slamannan on the afternoon of 24 November.
The charity was alerted to the incident after a concerned member of the public found the dog and took the animal to a veterinary practice in Falkirk.
Scottish SPCA inspector, Mairi Wright, said, “The dog was handed in to the vet in poor condition with matted fur and bald patches.
“The dog was microchipped to an address in Gretna but the owners are no longer at that address.
“We understand that people’s circumstances can change, but this is not the right way to give up an animal if you can no longer care for them.
“The dog is now at one of our animal rescue and rehoming centres where they will receive the care they need.
“If anyone recognises this dog or has any information, we would ask that they contact our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.”
