We are appealing for information after a cat was abandoned on a member of the public’s doorstep on Hunthill Road in Blantyre on 3 July.

Scottish SPCA inspector, Sian Robertson, said, “The cat is a black and white female, who we estimate to be around five years old.

“She was found on a member of the public’s doorstep at around 7.30pm on the date in question. The cat was in a black, bag holdall with vents next to a cat carrier containing bowls and food.

“We carried out enquiries and several neighbours confirmed they had seen the cat in the area before.

“She is microchipped to an address in Lanarkshire but unfortunately we haven’t been able to get in touch with the owner so far.

“We appreciate the person who left this cat may have intended for her to be found and looked after, but this is not the correct way to give up an animal if you can no longer care for them.

“The cat is now being cared for at one of our animal rescue and rehoming centres.

“If anyone has any information about this incident, or recognises this cat, they should call our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.”
