We have launched a new adoption and fostering service to help animals find their perfect match. Potential pet owners can now enter their specific requirements, and we will match them with an animal that fits their needs.
With this new initiative, owners can list their preferences and lifestyle details before receiving tailored matches to help them find their ideal “paw-mate.”
Jennie Macdonald, Head of Fostering, Rehoming, and Community Engagement, explains: “We’ve completely redesigned our Fostering and Rehoming service based on customer feedback and research. Our goal is to improve animal welfare, streamline the process for our teams, and make it more user-friendly.”
“Prospective owners can now create an account and fill out ONE application form instead of applying for each animal individually. Our new process considers the applicant’s lifestyle and preferences. This allows us to match them with right animals in our care. We’ll work closely with them to understand their needs, listen to their feedback, and help them find their ideal pet.”
“Adding a new family member is a long-term commitment, so we want to ensure we find the best fit for you and your family.”
Last year, we saw a 13% increase in adoptions and a 21% increase in fostering. This reduced the average days animals spent in care from 127 to just 58. The hope is that this new service will continue this positive trend.
If you’re unsure about adopting an animal, fostering could be a great option. Many animals struggle in kennel environments; some may come from backgrounds where they weren’t well socialized. Others may have never experienced the love and care they deserve.
In these cases, moving animals quickly into home environments is crucial. Not only does this provide them with the affection they need, but it also builds their confidence and improves their health and well-being.
Fostering also helps us learn more about each animal. It allows us to find the most suitable permanent homes and freeing up space in our centres for more animals in need.
