Our Role

Lead the Debate & Champion Change.

As the leading animal welfare experts in Scotland, we are committed to improving the lives of pets, wildlife, and farmed animals. With insights from our frontline teams, we continually shape our services and campaigns to address the most pressing issues in animal welfare.

How we work

We advocate to improve animal welfare: We  encourage members of parliament and the public to back our manifesto calls to action, respond to government consultations, drive meaningful change, ensuring our voices are heard at both Scottish and UK level.

We ensure our policies on animal welfare are accessible to all: Our  animal welfare policies will be communicated to encourage support from the community and key stakeholders and ultimately ensure high standards of care for all animals across Scotland.

We use research to support our decisions and source the right strategic partnerships: We will continue to seek innovative partnerships and conduct necessary research to back our initiatives, address key issues facing animals and ultimately help us make a difference to both animal and human welfare.

Engage with stakeholders

We believe in the power of collaboration. We will partner with organisations that can help us in the work we do within communities, improving farmed animal welfare standards, protecting wildlife, and remain committed to supporting an increase in Scotland’s biodiversity. Together, we will not only tackle the root causes of animal welfare issues in Scotland but collaborate to make Scotland the best place in the world for an animal to call home.

Our key focus for 2025 will be captured under these five areas:

We will lead the debate in Scotland on key animal welfare issues and issues that in turn impact animal welfare (i.e. Housing and Mental Health) by seeking legislative change and actively engaging with elected representatives, as well as promoting our manifesto priorities.

We will develop impactful strategic relationships that support the Society’s ambitions, ensuring mutual aims and objectives are reflected in collaborative agreements.

We will lead on research in partnership with reputable universities to ensure that we have the evidence base required to demonstrate the impact our work has on the animals we care for, the people we support and the services that we provide.

We will continue to demand change for animals through our educational initiatives that seek to raise awareness of animal welfare in a bid to influence human behaviour change and create change where needed.

We will continue to use market, societal and economic intelligence to shape what we do. We will ensure the impact reports we produce are meaningful and helps us generate the income we need to operate.
